“While Battery Park wasn’t originally on our short list when looking for a new home— it definitely should have been— and we are so happy that we ended up here. Here’s our story; we moved from Rocky River and decided that we wanted views of downtown, city living and a modern concept/maintenance free living option. We looked in the neighborhoods of Tremont, Ohio City and Duck Island. After a number of showings, we found Battery Park and instantly fell in love with the condo, the views, the lake access of Edgewater, the quaint neighborhood and the amenities that come with living near the city.
Once we moved in we knew it was 100% the right decision based on the amazing community of neighbors who have become great friends in a short six months. The community looks out for one another, supports each other and provides endless opportunities to mingle with neighbors at happy hours and other social activities. With so many local establishments in Gordon Square/Detroit Shoreway— you’re sure to find something you enjoy— coffee shops, local theatre, restaurants/bars, retail, etc. We are also so lucky to have the amazing Lake Erie and Edgewater Park in our backyard. Runners, cyclists, beach goers and families all enjoy the wonderful natural beauty that is only a five minute walk away.”
“For more than two years now, we have lived in Battery Park. What a fantastic place to call home! They say Cleveland rocks, and it does. Battery Park rocks too. For us, the decision to move into the neighborhood was a fairly quick one. Only about a month passed between our first tour until contract signing. After that, there were frequent visits, with dog in tow, to watch the progress as our town house took shape. Moving day was in the winter. Even though all the new residents were all busy organizing their new living spaces, we started meeting our new neighbors almost immediately. Everyone was friendly. Now these people are not only our neighbors, but our friends too. People whose company we enjoy. And people we can rely upon when we need a hand with something.
There are other benefits too. For the 30 plus years prior to our move, we lived in Lakewood. It was a great place to raise a family, but the housing stock there was old and required constant upkeep. In Battery Park, everything is new and all the outside work is taken care of by the homeowners association for pennies on the dollar compared to what others in a similar situation have told us they pay. So rather than house upkeep and yard work during the evenings and weekends, we are now free to relax and, if we so choose, enjoy the variety of activities available in and around the Gordon Square area, including Edgewater Park, Capitol Theater, numerous restaurants, and boutique shops. Life is good.
Sometimes in life satisfaction is attained by doing something just because if feels right. Battery Park has always felt right to us. We could not be more happy with our surroundings.”
“When we started looking for a neighborhood for our next home, we could not have anticipated how fantastic Battery Park would be. We wanted to live where neighbors know neighbors and the community is diverse. Where we could walk to restaurants. Where we could be close to downtown but also not too close. Where we could be outside in a beautiful place without the hassle of having to mow the lawn and do the gardening. Battery Park, as my friends know, has far exceeded our hopes and expectations.
We really appreciate being part of the renaissance of Cleveland. We had both grown up in beautiful old homes, but are thrilled to be in new construction (things work! extremely energy efficient!) that has not contributed to suburban sprawl.
Every day we remark to each other that we feel we’ve landed in a community that feels like a beach resort. People who are not from Cleveland laugh when I tell them we’re close to the beach, but it truly is a phenomenal resource. Where else can you live 5 minutes from downtown but also a few minutes’ walk to 147 perfectly-maintained acres of beachfront property? There are parasailers and boaters, swimmers and surfers, fishermen and families grilling and flying kites and enjoying the outdoors. It is fantastic. And so close that we walk there literally every day, some days more than once.
Friends often ask if I miss my old neighborhood, where I grew up and went to school, where we raised our children. Honestly – I do not. I can be out to the east side in 20 minutes to visit with family and friends but do not feel that I am missing a thing.”
“Living in Battery Park has exceeded my expectations. I moved into my new condo in Battery Park in December 2015. I came from Bay Village and was a little hesitant moving from the suburbs into the city. Once I moved into my new residence, I knew I had made the right decision. And I will tell you why…..
I am very lucky to have a condo with panoramic views from every level. I overlook Edgewater Beach and Lake Erie and the view is unbelievable. The views are even better from my rooftop deck where I also can see the downtown skyline. That was huge selling point for me. I never grow tired of just sitting and looking out at the lake.
I signed the papers to purchase my condo while it was under construction, so I was fortunate to make all decisions as to what I wanted in it…..from the paint, cabinets, flooring, light fixtures, counter tops, etc. I got exactly what I wanted. But what makes Battery Park special are my neighbors. We are such a close community. In such a short time, my neighbors have become my best friends. This is very special and something that is very rare. And you can do as much or as little as you want. We have monthly happy hours in our neighborhood and in the Gordon Square area. We have a summer block party. We also get together at the end of winter and do a neighborhood spring clean up. We are committed to our neighborhood. I can go on and on and on, but I won’t. Battery Park is my home and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.”
